3 Steps to Attracting Love (From a Yoga Chick Who Nailed it)

Lifestyle | Love

Have you had your share of bad dates? You’ve heard there are “plenty of fish,” but maybe you’ve only found sharks.

Are you tired of being hopeful and ending up spiteful? Maybe you’re ready to toss out the idea of love all together — leave it for the soap operas and storybooks.

Don’t you dare! There IS someone out there waiting to align his or her awesomeness with yours, and to make you the other half of an incredible whole. Don’t believe me? You should! Because what I’m about to tell you is fact, and you will see that once you practice love, you will find it by default.

Here are the 3 steps to attracting love I (inadvertently) used to find it in my own life.

1. Love Yourself

You are a salesperson. Your product is your personality, and you’re peddling it to the world. Wherever you go, you are either winning people over, or showing them why to avoid you.

So if you want to attract love, be attractive. I’m not talking about nail polish and neckties (although accessories are great, too). Be confident. Show the world what you have to offer. In my experience, those who try to find love without knowing why they deserve it end up in one of two scenarios:

  • looking for someone to validate them, or
  • settling for someone who doesn’t appreciate them.

A wise person said “You teach people how to treat you.” If you show them you’re amazing, they’ll give you what you’re entitled to: love!

2. Love Your Life

Misery loves company. Birds of a feather flock together. I could write cliches all day about this principle, but here’s my point: happy people attract happiness. Love is a byproduct of loving. So love your life.

Many years ago, I worked with a woman whose favorite phrase was, “Is it time to go yet?” She checked her watch every few minutes, yawned, and complained. She was one of those people who seemed to suck all the air from the room. Ever met someone like that? Don’t be that person.

No matter how mundane your life looks today, there’s something good, and positive, and wonderful about it. Point to that. You’ll cultivate gratitude and attract someone who’s equally gracious — someone who loves life and is looking for someone special with which to share the journey.

3. Love Other People

In his classic book, The Power of Positive Thinking, Norman Vincent Peale says, “Essentially, getting people to like you is merely the other side of liking them.” So if you want to attract love, love other people. It’s so powerfully simple.

Sprinkle those love seeds wherever you go, and watch the universe work to bring back the fruits of your labor!
