6 Things You Can Do to Celebrate National Yoga Month

Yoga | Yoga for Beginners

Oh, September. The beginning of autumn. Leaves are changing, Pumpkin everything is showing up in stores, and it's National Yoga Month. Say whaaat?

If you're in the mood to celebrate, here are five great things you can do for National Yoga Month.

1. Do Yoga in the Park

The days of warm weather are starting to come to an end, so take advantage of the remaining days to take your practice outside before you have to get out your "Snoga" gear.

What could be better than doing yoga in a park surrounded by changing leaves on a beautiful Indian summer day?

2. Try Something New

Always wanted to give AcroYoga or SUP yoga a try? Why not during a month specifically for all things yoga?

Grab a partner, step a bit out of your comfort zone, and broaden your yogic horizons with a new way of practicing. Maybe you'll find your new favorite kind of yoga!

3. Go to a Studio

If you're a dedicated home practitioner, shake things up a little bit and go to a studio. As much as I like practicing in the peace and quiet of my own home while following a video, there's something to be said for practicing in a group.

So go check out your local studio, make a few new yoga friends, and enjoy the energy of practicing with a group.

4. Have a Get-Together

Now that you have all these cool new yoga studio friends, why not set up a get-together?

Have a movie night or a dinner party, but take the opportunity to get to know each other outside of your normal yoga setting. You might find that you all have way more in common than just a shared love of yoga.

5. Treat Yo' Self

Have you had your eye on a pair of sweet new leggings? Or maybe you need a new yoga mat?

Take the time to treat yourself. Whether it's through new yoga gear, or a well-deserved spa day at home, care for yourself this September in the best way you know how. A happy yogi is a good yogi.

6. Meditate on Gratitude

Sure, Thanksgiving isn't 'til November, but that doesn't mean you can't be grateful right here, right now.

Thank whatever higher power you believe in for the wonderful gift of yoga, and all the goodness it brings into your life. Then take that goodness out into the world and spread it around.
