Budokon: The Beautiful Fusion Of Yoga and Martial Arts (VIDEO)

Healing | Health

Is it possible to combine yoga and martial arts, considering the principles of ahimsa? Yes, it is possible! While the intention of causing harm to others has no place in yoga philosophy, it does not mean you can’t learn and practice self-defense.

As some people put it: “Do no harm. Take no shit.” In fact, you could even say that learning self-defense can be a key part of self-care because you’re looking out for yourself in a world that can sadly be less-than-friendly sometimes. So if you love yoga AND martial arts, Budokon might be the perfect practice for you.

What is Budokon?

Founded in 2001 by Cameron Shayne, Budokon consists of three disciplines: meditation, yoga (asana), and martial arts. It’s a “mixed movement arts system” that aims to transform mind through movement, building awareness, strength and developing the mind-body connection.

Check out the video above to get a quick look at the strength and grace in Budokon, and learn more about the practice here.
