The Key to Finding Balance – Part Two

Happiness | Lifestyle

“Life is a balance between holding on… and letting go.”

Balance is a big deal in Ayurveda. And that’s because deep down…it’s who we are!

In part 1 of this final episode, we take a look at how Ayurveda sees you, and determined that finding balance and stepping into your natural state of healthy goodness usually means facing a couple of key challenges.

In this episode we’ll zero in on the second of those nasty challenges and give you some simple (and not so simple) ways to overcome them.

How Ayurveda Can Help in Finding Balance

So, in the video I suggested that the best ways to begin experiencing yourself (and the world around you) as healthy and happy are:

  • Embracing who you are
  • Cultivating your intuition; and
  • Tuning in to how you interact with the world

And now a few additional suggestions from Ayurveda (and me) might be to:

Know your tendencies – You can look to your dosha for a few clues. For example, because of the vata in my constitution, I tend to be especially sensitive to cold, dry climates and when I’m in them I usually end up anxious and dry (vata imbalances).

Just knowing this empowers me to prepare for those types of climates (put on the right clothes) and allows me to be a little more relaxed when I find myself in them.

Shed some layers – All of the emotions, beliefs, thoughts, messages from outside of us (i.e. our cultural conditioning) are like layers on top of who we really are. Some of them we need like a warm coat in the winter, but many of them we don't need.

And because of that, it’s really important to take time regularly to let go or cleanse ourselves of what doesn't serve us. Taking time on a regular basis to lighten up your diet, get rid of unwanted stuff, and say no to additional inputs It will give you access to something deeper and more powerful.

An Ending to Begin With

In this short and sweet series I’ve only begun to scratch the surface of the deep and powerful science of living. So now I pass the baton to YOU and invite you to follow your curiosity, intuition or desire to know more about yourself and your own capacity for greatness.

Know that ayurveda and yoga were created to help you get there. They’ve been doing it for centuries AND… like you, they’re only just beginning!
