We may not think about it all the time, but yoga wear is an important part of our practice. What we wear on the mat can contribute to feelings of confidence and comfort, or feelings of insecurity and discomfort. Have you ever worn a top that was too tight? How about that new pair of leggings that turned out to be see-thru? How did it make you feel? If we feel good in what we wear, then it makes it easier for us to free our minds for the practice to come. Whether it’s moisture-wicking technology, eco-friendly fabrics, or the fashion-forward that you’re looking for, below are three yoga wear brands that make it easy to feel good on the mat.
Prana yoga is one of the very early yoga wear brands. It started in a garage in 1992 and now, twenty years later, the founder still personally answers letters written from customers. Prana uses many eco-friendly materials like hemp and organic cotton and also work with fair trade factories. They offer both men’s and women’s clothing and have a moisture-wicking fabric for those infamous Bikram classes. Plus, they’re much less expensive than some of the larger brands. OMgirl clothing was featured in Vogue magazine, so you know it has to be good! They hail from California and boast clothing that’s comfortable, but also fashionable, with new designs and colors every season. OMgirl also custom dyes their pieces and uses many eco-friendly materials.
Be Present is a small, family-owned business that makes all their clothing here in the U.S.A. They, too, offer both men’s and women’s clothing and also use eco-friendly fabrics. I’m personally a big fan of the Renew Ribbed Chakra tank. It’s fitted just right with a long torso so you never have to worry about your shirt riding up during tree pose!
