3 Things You Can Do To Change The World (Without Spending A Dime)

I believe what the world requires from humanity is for human beings to simply consider it differently — to change our perception. Expand that sliver of awareness that remains conditioned to our personal stories. There are many avenues for accessing the capacity to see differently. I'd like to offer 3 of those avenues — 3 things to change the world that don't cost you a dime.

1. Find Your Edge

This is the edge of your comfort zone, the edge of your normal, everyday experience. Hard core adventurers cultivate this relationship every time they set off on their adventure-- whether it's climbing a mountain or surfing big waves. But this isn't a call to the extreme. Find your edge relative to the context of your life situation.

A simple opportunity is changing your method for going to work. Or spending your evenings differently for a week. Anything! Take the work example — Maybe you have the capability of riding a bicycle, or walking. En route, you might look into the eyes of someone you pass. And that moment might create a previously hidden feeling of compassion or joy.

Finding our edge often changes our inner center from our head to our heart--where love reigns supreme! Explore whatever opportunities you have in your life for living differently. Challenge yourself to find your edge!

2. Contemplate Nature

Get outside. You don't have to go to a national park or some vast, far-off wilderness. Just go for a walk in a local park. Sit in your backyard. But try not to bring your grocery list with you-- your inner chatter.

Just let the experience flow. Look around. Attune your hearing to the natural sounds around you. Nature will do its work.

Wash, rinse, and repeat with regularity, and notice how your capacity to perceive expands.

3. Reflect On Your Criticisms And Judgements

Really contemplate it! Whatever strikes strong emotion, pause, and reflect. Experience whatever comes up. This is about exploring your personal shadow.

You might begin to develop a capacity to accept and offer compassion to those characteristics you previously responded to with anger, anxiety, and the like.

Hey, recycling is great! So is eating organic, local food. And reducing our use of fossil fuels. But the world also really needs us to go deep within and bring back an expanded awareness as to our true nature.

And it doesn't cost a dime.
