How To Start Your Day Bright – Morning Routine Made Easy

Happiness | Lifestyle

Who’s guilty of pressing the “snooze” button in the morning until you realize it’s 10 minutes before you need to be out the door? ME! In fact, that was me this morning, which inspired this post!

With the pressures and stress of daily life, most of us are likely not early birds (unless I sleep early in my case!) When I’m a good girl, I’m in bed by 10pm, up at 7am to take a yoga class, then to work and my day always starts amazingly. But hey, we’re not perfect and I’m not a daily 7am yoga class type of girl. So here are a few tips to keep your mornings as calm and collected as possible.

1. Organize Your Things The Night Before

Gather your belongings for the next morning the night before so you won’t have extra stress if you can’t find something while in a rush. Whether it is your work essentials bag, laptop or your outfit – it’s always better to have everything ready for a grab and go! For days that are less organized, make sure to keep versatile clothing items in arms reach so you don’t need to put too much thought in your outfits!

2. Allot Time For Life

Life happens…all the time, usually unexpectedly. For example, the elevator in my apartment building (I live on the 10th floor) is completely unpredictable. Sometimes I will wait 5 seconds for it, other times 5 minutes. So I allot time in the morning for my elevator ride. Other things maybe less predictable – like, helping an old man cross the street or unexpected traffic jams. All I’m saying is, allot time for what you can but don’t stress too much on the rest.

3. Give Yourself Sometime For Breakfast

Breakfast is so important. It’s also so incredibly preached. It doesn’t have to be the whole nine yards, my personal favorite: hot tea/coffee and fresh fruit or green juice. There are studies that say a huge breakfast is most beneficial, but personally, we should all do what’s good for ourselves. So whether it’s a little or a lot, for breakfast – just eat something (healthy, of course!)

4. Have A Morning Ritual To Calm The Mind

A nice morning shower and 15 minutes for my skincare and make-up routine is therapeutic for me. It’s my first “ME” time for the day and it helps me get focused for the day ahead. Others may just be a 10-minute stretch routine or drowning yourself in your iPod on the way to work. Whatever it is, keep it – it keeps us in balance!

Have a lovely day everyone!
