Want To Lose Weight? Get Up Early In The Morning

Fitness | Weight Loss

It’s not very surprising to know that some of the most successful people on the planet are also early risers. Personally, I probably get close to 75% of the work I have planned for the day in the first 4-5 hours after getting up. I have noticed that my motivation levels are the highest in the morning along with creativity levels.

This means writing blog posts, along with yoga/gym work, get done in the morning so that I don’t have to worry about them for the rest of the day. Aside from productivity, rising early can also help you lose weight. Here’s how.

1. Lesser Chance Of Missing Your Workout

If you are the procrastinating type, then you should get your workout done first thing in the morning. This means you don’t have to set aside time later in the day again for this, so you don’t put it off.

2. High Willpower

In the morning, you wake up refreshed after (hopefully) eight hours of sleep. This means that your willpower is at its highest for the whole day as well. Make use of this and finish what’s hard to get yourself to do later.

3. Lesser People Around

Most people tend to sleep in during the mornings. This means that it’s usually quieter and therefore easier for you to focus on what needs to get done. You won’t get distracted by traffic or people talking to you when you work out.

4. Better Mental Health

Studies have repeatedly shown that people who wake up earlier tend to be more cheerful and have better mental health compared to those who wake up after noon. This is great since losing weight is all about having the right mindset and attitude.

5. Don’t Work Out On A Full Stomach

Most exercises, especially yoga, require that you don’t do it on a full stomach. Early mornings are therefore the perfect time for this.

6. Lesser Food Cravings

Having an irregular sleep cycle can send your appetite hormones out of whack. Getting up early and getting your workout done usually makes you really hungry, and therefore, makes it easier to eat a big breakfast after.

7. Cook for the day

Do you struggle sticking to a diet? Do you constantly eat out? When better to prepare your meals than early in the morning? It is usually the best time to prepare healthy meals and take them to work, rather than after work, when your motivation levels are low and you are really tired.

Now you might be saying to yourself, “But I’m a night owl, so this won’t work for me.” Most likely, you are not really a genuine night owl. Waking up early is a HABIT that you can develop and not something you are born with. So if you want to boost your chances of losing weight, I suggest you start creating a habit of getting up early and starting your day with an energized mind and body.
