Why Meditation Breeds Love

Happiness | Lifestyle

How do we reconnect? First you have to accept that we are all continuously connected already; you just have to open back up to this energy. Scientists know it as the zero point field, which demonstrates this web of energy connecting all matter.

The easiest means to quiet the static that prevents us from feeling this knowing is meditation. Meditation creates a non-dualistic understanding of the world.

In this way, meditation promotes the science that all things are in harmony and supporting one another (instead of dualism where there is a win/lose mentality). In other words, no one is out to get us, therefore we do not need to separate from the world.

Love is the connector, and Dr. Dean Schrock says: "Meditation allows you to access the quantum field of energy which is essentially of a field of love. And meditation heals by leading you to love." In other words, meditation breeds love. The intention behind your meditation strengthens this connection.

Each day when you meditate, do so by creating a loving vision. Meditating with love as the source benefits you first, then those closest to you, then it expands to circles, embracing the world.

Here is an easy breathing meditation to start your day.

Breathing in, I love myself.

Breathing out, I am love.

Breathing in, I offer love.

Breathing out, I receive love.

Breathing in, my intention is love.

Breathing out, may love flow through me.

Focus on your energetic heart at the center of your chest, front, and back. This is the area of the fourth chakra. Centering our attention here helps us to tap into the healing energy of love. This chakra also represents relationships; the coming together within ourselves and from that we can gain a positive relationship with the world around us.

As Jack Kornfield explains, "Love creates a communion with life. Love expands us, connects us, sweetens us, ennobles us. Love springs up in tender concern, it blossoms into caring action. It makes beauty out of all we touch. In any moment, we can step beyond our small self and embrace each other as beloved parts of the whole."

Even science supports this as more than just a concept. According to Henry Louis Gates, Jr., Director of the Hutchins Center at Harvard University:

“As all genetic testing databases continue to grow, life-changing, personal discoveries are becoming more and more common. And in aggregate, these genetic relationships–which science only recently could prove–will continue to reveal more mind-boggling statistics about the connections between all of us: and how much of the human family, we all share on the branches of our own family trees.”

To practice a meditation in love, follow these steps.

  • Take a comfortable seat.
  • Imagine your heart as this place of light.
  • As you breathe in, expand the light of your heart in all directions (sides, up, down, back, front).
  • With each breath, make your inner body bright.
  • Breathe in love. Breathe out love.
  • Feel love continuing to grow from your heart center and radiate out.
  • Send love to yourself, to your closest friends and family, to the earth.
  • Be comforted in knowing that love is ever-regenerating. You will never run out.
  • Feel all disconnections or barriers fall away. Sit steady in this place of peaceful love.

Wishing you all the courage to open to greater love and connection, for when I am coming from that place of love and you are in that place of love, we are ONE LOVE. Namaste.
