Are You Exploring Yourself?

Are You Exploring Yourself?
“After sleeping through a hundred million centuries we have finally opened our eyes on a sumptuous planet, sparkling with color, bountiful with life. Within decades we must close our eyes again. Isn’t it a noble, an enlightened way of spending our brief time in the sun, to work at understanding the universe and how we have come to wake up in it?” Richard Dawkins

The mindful intention of Yoga and all forms of spiritual practice is one of revealing yourself to yourself. The whole thing is about self-exploration. The truest essence of the spirit is human exploration. The difficult part of exploring one’s inner world and engaging this journey is making time. In our day-to-day world of grocery shopping, laundry, working, oil changes it's hard to set aside the time we need to explore our inner landscape. For me the catalyst for inner change has often come as a result of traveling somewhere. In that space, the changes in my outer world encourage me to go inside. No excuses, nothing more to do but see who I am and why I am. As a result, my ecology of mind becomes refreshed.

As Rumi puts it so well: "There is a life-force within your soul, seek that life. There is a gem in the mountain of your body, seek that mine. O traveler, if you are in search of That don't look outside, look inside yourself and seek That."

Yes, Seek That. In this yogic world of setting intentions just remember this – it is near impossible to set an intention for your life until you explore yourself and know where you’ve come from. Self-exploration yields self-knowledge that fuels our deepest manifestations. We realize in the words of Neale Donald Walsch, “Every decision you make - every decision - is not a decision about what to do. It's a decision about Who You Are. When you see this, when you understand it, everything changes. You begin to see life in a new way. All events, occurrences, and situations turn into opportunities to do what you came here to do.” Whether near or far, commit yourself to further exploration.
